Situated on the southwest corner of South Buffalo Drive and West Flamingo Road, shopping center Flamingo Village Plaza is the future home of the Poke Shack, a new restaurant offering poke and Hawaiian BBQ. The Poke Shack will open in Suite #105 in the plaza, located at 4155 S Buffalo Dr.

“There will be at least four different poke bowls you can choose from,” Chontierra, who owns the restaurant, told What Now on Tuesday. “And there will be a build-your-own option.” Poke will feature proteins like salmon, tuna, octopus, and mussels. A selection of Hawaiian barbecue dishes will also be on offer.

The Poke Shack is Chontierra’s first restaurant, and she brings 13 years of experience working in food service to the table.

“I was on maternity leave, and I just decided I love cooking and I wanted to do this instead.”

Previously occupied by a Mediterranean restaurant, the space will undergo a remodel before opening. When finished, it is expected to seat about 32 people, opening in a plaza that is home to exciting food and drink spots like BabyStacks Cafe, D’Agostino’s Trattoria, and Cafe de Manila.
