Offering a wide selection of big-name high-quality brands at more than 1130 locations in the US, Puerto Rico, Canada, and the UK, Lids Apparel already has a sizable footprint in Las Vegas, with retail locations in several major shopping centers in the area.

And now the brand appears to be expanding still further with a location in the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian. The shopping center recently submitted permit paperwork to Clark County for demolition and construction work on a “Lids Grand Canal Shops” project.

Lids offers team-branded gear for major professional sports leagues like the MLB, the NBA, and more. The focus is, of course, on headgear—at least, conceptually—but the brand also offers jerseys and a considerable variety of other apparel items. It also carries a large selection of brands, from Nike to Adidas to Champion and Under Armour.

At the Grand Canal Shoppes, Lids would be one of nearly 240 stores, filling in a gap in the shopping center’s roster where athletic gear is concerned (currently an empty category apart from sports and celebrity gift shop Field of Dreams). Several other new spots are soon to open there as well, including exciting food and drink spots like Fat Tuesday and Flight Club.

What Now Las Vegas was unable to reach a representative Lids for immediate comment on Thursday. No timeline is available for a Lids opening in the Grand Canal Shoppes.
