Most dog breeds don’t need monthly hair cuts, but every dog needs a bath. Scenthound franchisee Matthew Piccirillo hopes to make routine dog care accessible and affordable to Las Vegas locals by opening the city’s first Scenthound location in the Rhodes Ranch Town Center Shopping Plaza at 7435 S Durango Dr.

Demolition will begin on Wednesday, and the shop will open by the beginning of April. Services will include bathing, towel drying, ear cleaning, nail clipping and teeth brushing of your canine companion.

“We will offer grooming, but we’re more focused on the routine care of the dogs,” Piccirillo explained. “Scenthound offers barber services but in the form of puppy cuts, meaning it leaves the dog with an even coat all over.

“Only about 20% of dogs actually need hair cuts, so we’re going to help with everything else. We’ll make sure your dog gets the best care possible and feels healthy.”

Memberships start at $25 for monthly cleanings and $45 for unlimited appointments. Groomers and bathers will provide dog parents with a “S.C.E.N.T. check,” which functions as a sort of puppy report card for the state of their skin, coat, ears, nose and teeth.

“We’re all about educating dog parents to help them make sure their dog is staying healthy,” Piccirillo said.

After this Rhodes Ranch shop is up and running, Piccirillo will begin the search for two additional Las Vegas Scenthound locations.
