On June 12, 2025, the County of Los Angeles Public Health Department inspected the Northern Cafe in Northridge. The inspection found that the facility lacked enough accessible handwashing facilities. Nonfood contact surfaces in the premises were also observed to be unclean.
The inspector identified improper food storage and out-of-compliance container conditions. Inspectors reported that the restaurant’s equipment, flooring, and walls needed cleaning and repair. Vermin infestation, the presence of live insects and rodents, was the major reason the inspector issued a temporary closure for the restaurant.

Operations will remain suspended until all violations are addressed and cleared by the health department. Once the department checks the compliance status, the restaurant can reopen under the California Health and Safety Code.
