The Montebello bakery was cited for multiple food safety violations in a recent routine inspection. Equipment, linens, and utensils were not stored according to the regulations.
Health inspectors highlighted improper handwashing and toilet facilities at the L.A. food establishment. Violations ranged from missing soap and handwashing supplies to poorly constructed restroom facilities. Inspectors noted staff did not demonstrate knowledge of food safety protocols.
Inadequate lighting, ventilation, and improper backflow devices were listed in the report for Chapala Bakery. Garbage wasn’t properly disposed of at the L.A. bakery. Employees’ personal items were found in the food prep area.
The L.A. bakery was cited for the presence of rodents and a lack of vermin-proofing in the report. Food contact surfaces at Chapala Bakery weren’t clean and needed sanitation. Inspectors also found nonfood-contact surfaces in poor repair.
The inspectors added that the food facility was using unapproved utensils. Chapala Bakery didn’t submit a plan review before new construction at the premises. Food items weren’t labeled properly at the L.A. food establishment. The floors, walls, and ceiling were in poor repair.
