Los Angeles-based SDS Supportive Housing Fund announced it will fund $7 million of permanent supportive housing in South Los Angeles.
The 40-unit modular housing project will be constructed at 5215 S. Figueroa Blvd, a site currently owned by the City of Los Angeles. The project is a Public-Private Partnership between the SDS Fund, RMG Housing and the City, with City Council-member Curren Price (District 9) spearheading the project for the City.
“With the SDS Supportive Housing Fund and RMG Housing leading the way, we were able to accomplish an impressive feat – closing on a 40-unit permanent supportive housing development in just over three months,” said Council-member Price in a press release. “As a result, there will be individuals and families moving off the streets of South L.A. into a new home with new beginnings in the foreseeable future. My hope is this accelerated process will serve as the blueprint we need to put an end to the worst humanitarian crisis of our lifetime once and for all.”
The housing project extends past housing to help solve L.A.’s homelessness crisis. Every tenet in the S. Figueroa Blvd building will be entitled to on-site case management services through the Homeless Outreach Program Integrated Health System.
