Property owner Norman Haynie is pursuing plans to build a 39-key hotel at 22729 and 22741 Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, according to an initial study done by the city under public review until Thursday.
The project is slated for a two-parcel site owned by Haynie and containing an office building and abandoned gas station. The latter structure would be demolished to make way for a 13,865-square-foot building with 17 guest rooms between two floors, while the 16,220-square-foot office building would be converted to contain 22 guest rooms.
Named the Sea View Hotel, the project would also provide 31 valet-parking spaces, a Sea View Restaurant on the ground-floor level, and a rooftop deck and pool. Another 60 parking spaces currently on site would remain as well, while plans also call for 15 new bicycle parking spaces.
Released earlier this month, the city’s initial study divides construction into three phases and estimates it starting in July and wrapping up in January 2023.
