Marigold West will provide permanent supportive housing for adults aged 62 and older, including 25 units reserved for individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Located at 1041 North Martel Avenue, it is being built just a block from Santa Monica Boulevard. The development has been designed to integrate with the scale and density of the neighborhood.

Laura Hall, CEO of EAH Housing, shared her thoughts about the project in a prepared statement. “Marigold West reflects our ongoing commitment to creating high-quality, affordable housing that supports residents and strengthens communities. We’re deeply grateful to the City of West Hollywood and our partners for making this vision possible,” she said.

The Mayor of the City of West Hollywood, Chelsea Lee Byers, said, “Through Marigold West, EAH Housing is driving meaningful progress in this respect. This development gives residents the foundational resources needed for a bright future while strengthening the fabric that makes West Hollywood a vibrant community.”

KFA Architecture has designed the building, which is being constructed by United Building Company (UBC). The project is being financed by the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Program, Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA), the City of West Hollywood, and Wells Fargo.

Project to Build 50 New Apartment Units

Marigold West will span 47,472 square feet across five stories and will include a total of 50 affordable housing units. Here is the apartment unit breakdown:

  • 12 studio apartments ranging in size from 344 to 383 square feet
  • 35 one-bedroom apartments ranging in size from 517 to 648 square feet
  • 3 two-bedroom apartments ranging in size from 825 to 966 square feet

All the apartments will also be fitted with energy-efficient appliances, window coverings, and walk-in closets.

Amenities Included

The community center at Marigold West will include a range of amenities. Residents will be able to access the multipurpose room, common area lounge, property management offices, and on-site laundry.

Moreover, the community will also feature a landscaped outdoor podium deck with seating areas and a secondary amenity deck with room for recreation and events. Residents and staff will also have access to the 19 subterranean parking spaces.

Wellness Programs and Resident Services

St. Joseph Center will offer wellness programs and services and a dedicated Resource Coordinator for Marigold West residents. The social service organization offers outreach and engagement, housing, mental health, education, and vocational programs.

EAH Housing, which was founded in 1968 in response to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s death, today serves over 25,000 people in 240 communities in California and Hawai‘i.

With the growing demand for affordable housing in West Hollywood, Marigold West is expected to expand access for low-income senior residents and support efforts to address homelessness.
