The San Gabriel City Council last month gave approvals to Pacific Square, a 251-unit mixed-use multifamily development planned for the former site of San Gabriel Nursery & Florist.

Designed by Rick Abe of Media Portfolio, the five-story project will rise at a roughly 6-acre site at 700 – 800 S. San Gabriel Boulevard and hold 243 condominiums and eight live-work units split between two mid-rise buildings, plans show. It is being led by Pacific Plaza Premier Development Group.

The San Gabriel development will also include about 76,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space. A northern plaza area will contain 106 units, ground-floor commercial and retail space, and a fitness center, while a southern plaza area will have 145 units and the remainder of the ground-floor commercial and retail space, including a market, according to planning documents.

Plans also call for about 23,000 square feet of park space and 983 automobile parking spaces to serve the project’s residential and commercial uses.

Also involved in the designs for Pacific Square is SLA Architects, plans show.
