The Central Hollywood Neighborhood Council Monday evening will review a joint venture’s plans to construct a 13-story, 175-key hotel at 6445 W. Sunset Blvd., according to its meeting agenda.
The applicant behind the project, which was first proposed last year, is listed as both 6445 Sunset LLC and NELA Sunset LLC. The former entity is registered in state filings by NELA Development CEO Marissa Solis, while the latter was formed by Jonathan Barr, founder of JB2 Investments.
The hotel would rise 173 feet, replacing a roughly 9,600-square-foot, two-story general commercial and office building at the site, which is just west of the intersection of Sunset and Cahuenga Boulevards.
“The need for new hotel rooms within the City is widely understood,” the development team writes in application materials on file with the city.
“The Project will locate an appropriately scaled hotel in Hollywood’s urban core near robust transit infrastructure, accommodate an influx of tourists to Hollywood by satisfying unmet demand for hotel rooms, and stimulate local businesses dependent on tourism and hospitality.”
Along with guest rooms, the hotel development would include about 12,500 square feet of restaurant and bar space split between its second and rooftop levels. Plans also call for 72 parking spaces.
Listed in planning submissions as an architect for the proposed Hollywood project is LA-based firm Archeon Group.
