OUE Skyspace LA, California’s “tallest open-air observation deck,” has permanently closed its Bunker Hill doors in DTLA, the company on Monday announced in a Facebook post. “Sadly, we regret to inform you that effective this month, OUE Skyspace LA will be permanently closing,” the social media post states. “We would like to thank you for your incredible support and all the wonderful memories shared over the past four years.”
Situated atop the iconic U.S. Bank Tower building, at 633 West 5th Street, OUE Skyspace LA was owned and operated by its eponymous Singapore real estate company OUE Ltd. OUE sold the 73-story high-rise for $430 million earlier this year. It’s unclear if the sale of the property, COVID-19, or something else is to blame for OUE Skyspace LA’s closure. Reps for the attraction on Tuesday did not immediately respond to a request for comment by What Now Los Angeles.
OUE Skyspace LA first opened its doors in 2016, 27 years after the U.S. Bank Tower was debuted in 1989. In addition to its observation deck, the attraction also featured the Skyslide, a 45-foot, fully enclosed, all-glass slide. There was also a bar and the venue was often used for events and photography.
