Los Angeles tourists hoping to get a glimpse of their favorite celebrity might have to do so on foot and without expert celebrity-spotting help for the foreseeable future. Hollywood tabloid and celebrity-stalker extraordinaire TMZ has shuttered its celebrity tours storefront along the Hollywood Walk of Fame, at 6822 Hollywood Blvd.
The 820-square-foot red standalone building has been listed for lease and is available starting in January 2021. Rent on the space — which requires a four-year term — is $120,048 per year or $10,004 monthly ($146.40 /SF/YR.) TMZ and reps for the landlord on Friday did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
“The size and location are fantastic for many uses, including a ticket broker for Los Angeles and Hollywood-based events, a radio or podcast station for a celebrity personality, and a variety of other retail products and services,” according to the for-lease listing. “The property has tremendous visibility and identity, with west of Highland Ave prestige. This is the heart and center of Hollywood Blvd at Hollywood & Highland.”
TMZ Tours used the office as the hub for its operation which has been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s unclear if TMZ is doing away with its tours completely, but the company writes on its website, “we look forward to seeing you on a future TMZ Tour!” A rep for Exclusive Livery Service, Inc., the firm that operates TMZ Tours, told What Now Los Angeles in a telephone conversation that the plan was to continue the tours when it was safe to do so. They also confirmed that the TMZ Tours storefront had shuttered.
