With over 50 locations nationwide, popular golf entertainment company Topgolf is finally expanding to Southern California with two locations due to hit the Los Angeles area in 2022.
Ontario and El Segundo will be the first two beneficiaries of the company’s Southern California expansion. They’ll be the third and fourth Topgolf locations in California, after Sacramento and the soon-to-open San Jose locations.
“For quite some time, we have been hearing the calls for Topgolf to come to Southern California and we are thrilled to be answering this call with not one, but two Topgolf venue experiences,” said Topgolf Chief Executive Officer Dolf Berle in a press release this week. “Topgolf Ontario and Topgolf El Segundo are more than entertainment venues, they are a commitment to the people of the Inland Empire and Los Angeles County to contribute to the tremendous momentum of the region with energy and fun.”
Ontario, which is about 40 miles from Downtown Los Angeles, will open its venue near Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park on 14-acres of land. The company says the location “will feature 102 hitting bays, plus a full-service restaurant and bar and event space for corporate and social events” and has plans to open a “mini-golf experience” after opening.
Top Golf El Segundo will be a unique location for the chain as it will become part of The Lakes at El Segundo 9-hole golf course. Topgolf will take over operations of the course, though it’s still unclear the relationship that the course will have with the core Topgolf experience. Lights will be added to the course for night-time golfing.
Topgolf has become popular for its fun, party-like atmosphere. Different from traditional golf driving ranges, Topgolf scores players’ shots, giving points based on how close players hit their balls to colored targets. Topgolf facilities also feature full-service dining and drinking options.
