Feng Gan currently operates two restaurants under the name 1919 Lanzhou Beef Noodle — one on 5709 Rosemead Blvd in Temple City, which opened in February, and 148 E Duarte Rd in Arcadia, which has been in operation since November of last year. Now, Gan is in the process of opening a new location, juggling potential properties in Irvine. They hope to open in the next five to six months.

Gan’s 1919 Lanzhou Beef Noodle has a very homemade feeling to it, with hand-pulled noodles. According to them, the most popular item at the other two restaurants is the House Special Beef Noodle, where the restaurant gets its namesake. On top of serving noodles, traditional Asian fare is offered, including dumplings.

COVID has made things tricky, the owner told What Now Los Angeles, as Gan was planning on opening a new location earlier but these plans were scrapped. Its Temple City and Arcadia predecessors were built in communities that are predominantly Asian, Gan said — but the turnout revealed a wider demographic of people who love their brand of Asian cuisine.
