Plans to redevelop the ground-level of the City National Bank building, at 606 S. Olive, could bring three new restaurant tenants to DTLA. While no tenants or operators have been locked down at the time — as the project is still early on in its permitting stage — a master conditional use beverage permit obtained by What Now Los Angeles (WNLA) this week details the work proposed to the office tower’s ground floor. Plans call for an overhaul to include three restaurants, adjacent to the historic and soon-to-be revitalized Pershing Square.
WNLA spoke briefly with Tanner Blackman, a senior project manager overseeing the filings, who said that the project would wrap-up sometime in late-2021. Post renovations, the next step would be to find tenants to fill the revitalized spaces. “This is all conceptional as of right now,” Blackman said. “It’s kind of a weird time to open restaurants.” 606 S Olive, LLC only recently filed the request and is still waiting on approval from the city to break ground.
The three 606 S Olive establishments would encompass a total of 12,910 square feet with 460 interior and 128 exterior seats — 588 total. The request also implies there could be live entertainment within any or all three of the establishments slated to appear in the area. Marketing materials for the project outline some floorplan options. Blackman will keep WNLA updated as tenants are signed on, he said.
City National Bank has not been a tenant of that building for several years and their name was removed from the tower as well. as a matter of fact this space was the branch bank which was closed at the same time CNB vacated the building.
