Alejandro Guzman, the owner of LA Cha Cha Cha, is opening a new unnamed restaurant in Elysian Valley, located at 1993 Blake Ave.

Although the restaurant’s name has yet to be decided, building owner Hilary Walsh tells What Now Los Angeles the restaurant is expected to open in late Spring 2022. The 3,705 square-foot restaurant will feature 1,500 square feet of patron space with 58 seats, according to a case filing for the restaurant submitted to the City of Los Angeles. The unnamed restaurant will also have a 735 square foot patio with an additional 49 seats. The restaurant will open daily at 9 pm and close at 10 pm from Sunday to Thursday and at 11 pm on Friday and Saturday.

Guzman is planning to bring authentic Mexico City cuisine with seafood options to this restaurant. Customers can also find a full line of alcohol, mainly consisting of tequila and mezcal. The establishment initially hoped to provide a space for live music, but they decided not to host any entertainment after neighborhood feedback. The restaurant also will close the patio at 9 pm on Sunday to Thursday and 10 pm on Friday and Saturday in response to the same neighborhood feedback.

This unnamed restaurant will reflect Guzman’s long journey as a chef to owner from Mexico City to Los Angeles. The Los Angeles-raised chef first opened Terraza Cha Cha Chá, along with Grupo Palmares, in Mexico City, in a modern Palm Springs-inspired space. Earlier this year, he opened his rooftop sister restaurant LA Cha Cha Cha, after a nearly two-year buildout. During the pandemic, he opened a pop-up space called Fabby’s in Cassell’s Hamburgers DTLA.
