The Hunan Group, which owns, licenses, or manages 23 restaurants in Mexico City, will be heading for the U.S. to open its next venture, the ALMA restaurant.
It is opening in The Grove in a space previously occupied by 189, which presented a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and location for the Hunan Group, Eater Los Angeles reports.
“Beautiful interior design is met with authentic Mexican cuisine at ALMA, Hunan Group’s first U.S. restaurant, coming soon to The Grove,” according to The Grove website.
The taste menu will reportedly be filled with fresh and local ingredients, highlighting a rich history with the best flavors of Mexico.
The atmosphere hopes to transport diners to a traditional hacienda and Cabo-inspired space.
Among the menu favorites will be carnitas, ceviche, tacos, birria, tres leches cakes, and fresh handmade tortillas. The bar will feature hand-shaken margaritas alongside a wide tequila selection, mezcal, and homemade hot chocolate.
Opening in The Grove, the shopping mall will give the new restaurant a great place to grow. One of Los Angeles’ most popular shopping, dining, and lifestyle destination it has a mix of retail, restaurants, and entertainment in an open-air environment right near the Playground Pavilion.
It’s Fairfax district, not La Brea. No one calls it the La Brea shopping mall.
Thanks for the heads up.
