Al’s Hot Chicken is taking over the Saffron Mediterranean Grill space on 14520 Ventura Blvd in the Village at Sherman Oaks. No specific date has been given, but What Now Los Angeles did confirm with owner Almasri Abdal over the phone on Wednesday that it will be opening soon.
Al’s Hot Chicken proudly refers to itself as the “best Nashville hot chicken” on Instagram. Not to be outdone, but the very first thing you’ll see on the website is its promise to use all-natural, hormone, and antibiotic-free Halal chicken (“Halal,” referring to the Islamic practice of preparing meat according to Muslim law — perfectly clean and hand-cut.)
Like any good Nashville hot chicken restaurant, there’s a wide range of heat you can choose from — the hottest is “LA’s Hottest,” a whopping 2.2-million Scovilles so intense, you have to sign a waiver. The menu also emphasizes its chicken and waffle combo varieties.
The 1,500 square-foot space will be Al’s Hot Chicken’s second location — a location much needed, as its 10821 Venice Blvd location in the Palms of West LA has had to close its doors for the day after running out of food.
