Construction is underway at the corner of Citrus Avenue and College Street in Downtown Covina. Slater’s 50/50 will move onto the ground floor of a historic building at 201 N Citrus Avenue, just across from the beloved Rad Coffee, and bump Latin restaurant and nightclub 3 Vinos to the second floor.
According to its website, Slater’s 50/50 pays “homage to the original 50/50 patty – made of 50% ground bacon and 50% ground beef.” With a name like that, you know its burger lineup is going to be formidable. Among its absurdly masterful burgers is the B’B’B’ Bacon (50/50 beef and bacon blend, bacon American cheese, thick-cut bacon, sunny-side up egg and bacon island dressing on a brioche bun); the Peanut Butter & Jellousy (black canyon angus beef, thick-cut bacon, natural peanut butter and strawberry jelly on a honey wheat bun); and the Garden Gobbler (all-natural turkey in a crunchy lettuce wrap with pepper jack cheese, avocado cilantro slaw, cucumber, pickled red onions, tomato and garlic aioli).
The burgers are not the only thing stacked at Slater’s 50/50–the whole menu is. From savory “starters, loaded flatbreads, sexy salads, killer pastas and sandwiches, and amped-up milkshakes,” Slater’s 50/50 has it all–not to mention its superb selection of beers on tap.
Their insane shakes include the Candy Shop Shake (strawberry shake, vanilla and Jolly Rancher crust, topped with Runts, gummy bears, jumbo circus sucker, Twizzlers, Skittles and a pack of Sour Patch Kids) and the Adult Mint Chocolate Guinness Shake (mint chocolate and Guinness shake, chocolate and Andes mint crust in a chocolate lined glass topped with chocolate sprinkles, Andes mints and chocolate syrup in a Guinness pint glass).
Are you hyped yet?
We are, too.
Although Slater’s 50/50 has not yet dropped a debut date, they are currently hiring and plan on opening soon, according to their Facebook page. Upstairs, 3 Vinos is similarly getting dolled up for endless nights of dancing and drinks.
We’ll be sure to keep you posted on when to roll up to Downtown Covina for burgers, beers, and bangers at the corner of Citrus Avenue and College Street.
