Yet another franchisee, Andrew Kim, is taking the quickly growing bb.q Chicken restaurant across the city to potentially three more locations — one of which was confirmed at 6745 Quail Hill in Irvine. What Now Los Angeles (WNLA) confirmed the opening with John Park, bb.q Chicken’s HQ regional manager.
“We have a specific guideline so that all of our franchises look the same,” Park said about the extent of the makeover for the new Irvine location. He further explained that they actively seek out existing restaurants with a decent amount of friers and walk-in cooler space to accommodate bb.q Chicken’s goal of purveying always fresh meat and poultry. “We focus on fried-to-order chicken.”
Park also explained that Kim is seeking out several other locations to open even more franchise bb.q Chicken joints (which Park also clarified stands for “Best of Best Quality Chicken”). Furthermore, WNLA was able to get in contact with Claire Kim, a representative for bb.q Chicken’s new franchisee: “By any chance, bb.q chicken is going to be open 3 locations in Irvine,” Claire stated in an email.
bb.q Chicken’s quick expansion has a lot to do with its “Chicken University,” a means to train a large number of franchisees, as well as further its research and development efforts. On top of the soon-to-be-announced locations from Kim, WNLA previously reported that Tustin (which officially opened last week) and Northridge locations are listed as “coming soon,” at 13681 Newport Ave and 18431 Nordhoff St, respectively. “It’s kind of hard right because both of the world events right now. We’re hoping for the beginning or middle of 2021,” Park said about the opening of bb.q Chicken’s new Irvine opening.
