bb.q Chicken, or “BBdotq,” is opening up under the guidance of Franchisee David Shin, bringing Korean-style chicken to 1711-1723 W Artesia Blvd in the Gardena Marketplace. It currently has nine locations open in California with three more on the way in the state.

bb.q Chicken first opened its doors in 1995 in South Korea, where they’re well known for only frying in olive oil. But in 2014, they founded BBDOTQ USA with the idea of franchising their brand of health-conscious fried chicken in the states. A franchisee like Shin can open up one of four different concepts of bb.q: a standard bb.q Chicken concept; bb.q Chicken Express, which conducts delivery and takeout in addition to offering a small dine-in experience; bb.q chicken Pub, which allows patrons to enjoy many types of beer with their meal; and bb.q Chicken Premium Cafe, which blends concepts together and lets its guests enjoy beer and a brunch menu.

bb.q Chicken established the “Chicken University” in South Korea for the purpose of training franchisees, as well as research and development. These great lengths to ensure quality pushed bb.q Chicken to employ over 40 researchers who work tirelessly to ensure its food is both healthy and delicious. The menu consists of the spicy chicken wings and the internationally popular Surpfried that have been featured in Korean cinema and enjoyed by celebrities like K-pop band BTS.

Aside from bb.q Chicken’s Gardena location, Tustin and Northridge restaurants are both listed as “coming soon” on the website, at 13681 Newport Ave and 18431 Nordhoff St, respectively. The latter of which housed Two Hands Seoul Fresh Corn Dogs, WNLA previously reported, which is listed as “closed” on Google. bb.q Chicken’s Gardena location should open sometime in November, according to Shin.
