Bear House Acai, a brand new acai-focused eatery, will open next year at 350 W Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks.

The new business, first reported by Conejo Valley Guide, will open on the lower level east side of The Oaks shopping mall. The company’s owner tells What Now Los Angeles they hope to open Bear House Acai in the new year, possibly as soon as January 2025. Customers can expect to build their own acai bowls, superfood smoothies, and more, making this an excellent choice for anyone looking for healthier options. The new Bear House Acai will be located near Starbucks.

The new tenant announcement comes on the heels of the shopping center expected to trade hands by the end of the year, according to the center’s longtime owner, The Macerich Co., which announced the pending deal in its third-quarter earnings report on Nov. 6, according to the Los Angeles Business Journal. The property was initially built in 1978. Santa Monica-based Macerich acquired The Oaks for $153 million in 2002, which followed a $250 million makeover in 2008. It was last renovated in 2017.

Macerich is under contract to sell the 1.2 billion-square-foot property for $157 million and expects to do so in the fourth quarter, subject to customary closing conditions, according to the company’s balance sheet. While the earnings report did not reveal the buyer, news reports later determined it to be Brentwood-based Stockdale Capital Partners. Other in-process transactions include Santa Monica Place, The Shops at Atlas Park in Southridge Mall, and four other assets currently under discussion.
