Patrons have been visiting the L.A. eatery for mouthwatering Mexican eats, including the chile relleno burrito. However, La Azteca Tortilleria will close its doors permanently on July 13, 2025. It made the announcement through a recent Instagram post.
Guests can visit the family-run establishment for the last time at 4538 E Cesar E Chavez Ave till July 13. Alongside the breakfast menu featuring burritos, they can get tacos, salads, and more.
The Beloved Burrito Place Cites Rent Concerns
La Azteca Tortilleria’s Cynthia Hernandez has cited rising rent at its original location. Hernandez added that the restaurant’s property owner added restrictions, which troubled its food services. This is why the burrito place has decided to shift permanently to its second location in East L.A.
While reminiscing about the restaurant’s journey, Hernandez said that during the time her parents took over, the Mexican establishment’s business was slow. However, the Villas stood committed, and four years back, the East L.A. restaurant bagged a Bib Gourmand from Michelin.
La Azteca Tortilleria will Now Serve at Atlantic Blvd.
Regular patrons are upset by the abrupt closure of La Azteca Tortilleria. However, it will continue food services at its second location in East L.A. The new place will offer guests Mexican delicacies at 287 S. Atlantic Blvd., Los Angeles, CA, 90022.
La Azteca Tortilleria #2, the second outlet, began its services in 2023. Its owners decided to open a second outlet, fearing that the landlord might close the first Cesar Chavez location. The decision has worked in their favor, as the Mexican restaurant can smoothly transition without delay.
The second location is close to the Cesar Chavez outlet (near the Beverly and Atlantic Boulevards).
Patrons should note that the contact number will be the same at La Azteca Tortilleria #2.
One location is closing, but the business lives on nearby! Patrons can stop by to savor Mexican delicacies at another outlet.
