Parisian-inspired bistro Bicyclette is opening its upstairs fine-dining restaurant in Pico-Robertson, located at 9575 W Pico Blvd.

The downstairs bistro opened in the summer of 2021, but now the upstairs dining area expects to finally open in February 2022, according to co-owner/ chef Margarita Manzke. She and co-owner/ husband and chef Walter Manzke says the new upstairs dining area will have a pre-fixed menu with a set amount of courses. The duo of professional chefs has yet to decide how many courses they will offer. They currently use the area for private parties.

Both Margarita and Walter have impressive resumes behind them. Margarita, born and raised in the Philippines, has worked in some of the city’s most well-known restaurants, such as Patina, Spago, and Mélisse. On the other hand, Walter has worked alongside esteemed Chef Joachin Splichal of Patina and, from there, traveled around the world working with renowned chefs Ferran Adrià and Alain Ducasse.

The husband/ wife duo has opened several critically acclaimed Los Angeles concepts, including Petty Cash Taqueria, Sari Sari Store, and République. On top of that, the pair has opened sixteen Wildflour Bakeries in the Philippines. Throughout their careers, the Manzkes have developed a shared admiration and appreciation of the French bistro culture of Paris, inspiring the creation of their newest concept, Bicyclette.

Entirely designed by Walter Manzke himself, Bicyclette is a testament to the Manzke’s passion for French cuisine and the duo’s desire to continue bringing the Los Angeles community an authentic and distinctly Manzke dining experience. The upstairs restaurant will follow the downstair’s culinary path in French cuisine. The Manzke’s have long-waited to open this upstairs restaurant and are patient in gathering the right team for the project.

“We’re determined to open, and we’re shooting for February. It’s really based on if we can pull the right team together and hire the right staff,” Walter Manzke tells What Now Los Angeles. “I don’t know if it’s any different for me. It’s still a challenging time. We don’t want to do it until we have the right team. We’re just hoping by the beginning of the year things improve.”
