Big Mama’s & Papa’s Pizzeria, otherwise known as BMPP, is getting ready to open a new location in Sherman Oaks at 15301 Ventura Boulevard, SP P-10.

The company’s 12th location will replace George’s Greek Grill in the Sherman Oaks Galleria, according to a recent liquor license application. The franchise owner tells What Now Los Angeles that he hopes to open this location in May 2025. While Big Mama’s & Papa’s Pizzeria has a dozen locations in Los Angeles County, The franchise owner tells What Now that the company, founded by brothers Aro and Allen Agakhanyan, is expanding into Canada with locations coming to Toronto.

These expansion plans proved an impressive accomplishment for the company launched in 1992. Not only did they recreate the traditional pizzeria with a “cool” Southern California feel, but they also expanded the size of their pizzas to fit the demands of their guests. Their initial pizza size was 28″, which you could order with your choice of toppings. However, it soon became apparent that the Big Papa (36″ in diameter) was born to feed the customers’ big appetites. But Aro and Allen Agakhanyan were not satisfied even then, so they introduced the Giant Sicilian, which was and is the largest deliverable pizza in the world. The Giant Sicilian (54″ X 54″) is in the Guinness World Record Book. The company uses a Chevy Bolt all-electric now for the deliveries of the 54″ pizza. The franchise owner tells What Now that he plans this location to be very involved with local school fundraising, with “kids make your own pizza” days and pizza challenges, where people can win money for charities or themselves.

“BMPP is a real pizzeria restaurant, not just a delivery pizza chain,” according to the company’s website. “Future restaurant locations will be larger footprints featuring seating for 40-75 persons, re-introducing the idea that Pizzerias are back and that families and large groups can experience great food together. BMPP’s delivery vehicles (Smart Cars fitted with special insulated roof racks so they can deliver the Giant 54″ x 54” Sicilian Pizza) reinforce the brand’s focus on the customer and the environment and provide BMPP a very “Southern California Cool” public persona.”
