For the first time, the Birria Los Socios food truck is getting its own brick-and-mortar space. Slated to open in December 2020, at 3544 E 3rd Place in the Boyle Heights neighborhood, the restaurant will offer its ever-popular soft- and hard-shell tacos, burritos, tejuino, nachos, quesadillas, mulitas, and more. The location previously housed a Tutti Frutti Frozen Yogurt.

Owner Jose Pacheco told What Now Los Angeles this week that he previously hosted a taco stand outside the storefront where the permanent Birria Los Socios is planned. “Our quesadillas and burritos are huge,” Pacheco said. “They’re not like the ones you see in restaurants … We stuff them up.”

On the name, birria is a type of Mexican dish that is often consumed as a type of soup with dried chiles and shredded meat. “We get the meats, and we make them into tacos for those people who don’t like birria in a soup,” Pacheco said.
