Black Bear Diner continues to expand throughout Los Angeles County, with a new location set for Santa Clarita at 16526 Soledad Canyon Rd.
The company’s newest location is set to replace Coco’s Bakery in the Sand Canyon Plaza, according to a recent liquor license. This will be the second Black Bear Diner for Elite Diners LLC, which also opened a location in the former home of Souplantation in Palmdale. The new location has no exact opening date, but it will be the third location on the north side of Los Angeles. The new Black Bear Diner will benefit mainly from the nearby Sand Canyon Plaza Project.
The Sand Canyon Plaza project spans 80 acres and features 580 residential units, 148 single-family homes, 120 attached townhomes, and 312 apartments. In addition to the residential components, the project includes over 45,000 square feet of retail and commercial space, which will house various businesses, including restaurants and an assisted living facility. This project has been in development for a significant amount of time, with initial plans dating back nearly two decades when the property owner received approval to rezone and transform the former mobile home park into a mixed-use development.
When Black Bear Diner opens next year, it will offer a family-friendly environment full of old-fashioned comfort foods. While the company has over 150 locations across at least 13 states, North Los Angeles only has two locations, including one in Santa Clarita, located within Creekside Place at 23626 Valencia Blvd. Soon, the city will have two locations, making it even more accessible. Additional tenants, such as Sprouts Farmer’s Market, Jersey Mike’s Subs, and Domino’s Pizza, are also set to open at the new San Canyon Plaza development in Spring 2025.
