Boban, a Vietnamese baguette and coffee concept, is set to open several new locations throughout Southern California, including at least three in Los Angeles County.
The company’s newest location is set to move into the upcoming Grand Century Plaza in Rowland Heights at 18885 Gale Avenue, which is scheduled to open in February 2026, according to a press release. The Rowland Heights store will serve as Boban’s flagship and is one of several corporate-owned locations planned across California. While an exact opening date has yet to be announced, the flagship marks a significant step in Boban’s national growth strategy. By the time this Rowland Heights site opens, Los Angeles will have two additional new locations. Both opening in December 2025, Boban is also expanding to new locations in Chino Hills at 3233 Grand Avenue, Unit L, and another site is coming to Monterey Park at 301 E Garvey Avenue, Suite B&C.
Founded by CEO Elaine Nguyen, Boban is recognized as the first Vietnamese baguette chain in the U.S. The brand is currently in expansion mode, with multiple stores either under construction or in lease negotiations, including in Garden Grove, Fountain Valley, Cypress, Costa Mesa, and internationally in Medan, Indonesia. The Rowland Heights store will anchor Boban’s corporate-owned footprint, offering greater visibility for its brand and business model. Customers can expect a menu of freshly made bánh mì sandwiches, premium coffee, and a casual cafe environment.
Located within Grand Century Plaza, a new lifestyle and dining hub anchored by a supermarket and popular eateries, the flagship aims to benefit from substantial foot traffic and diverse demographics in the surrounding community. According to company materials, the plaza is designed to become a central destination for locals and tourists, making it a strategic location for the cafe’s continued growth.
Menu offerings include classic Vietnamese bánh mì, made with house-baked baguettes, as well as cafe beverages such as Vietnamese iced coffee and seasonal specials. The concept also emphasizes a cozy, modern cafe setting designed for both casual dining and takeaway. The brand occasionally integrates sister concepts, such as Nobibi, known for its artisanal ice cream.
Founded to elevate traditional Vietnamese flavors within a fast-casual model, Boban is actively growing its franchise program, offering training, operational support, and real estate guidance to new partners.
“With our corporate-owned flagship at Grand Century Plaza, Boban is setting the stage for our next growth chapter,” Nguyen said in a press release. “Our goal is to make Boban the go-to destination for authentic Vietnamese baguettes and premium coffee across the U.S. This milestone demonstrates our commitment to bringing our vision to life and supporting our franchise partners with prime locations and a proven business model.”
