A branch of the Korean fried chicken chain Bonchon will soon open inside the Stevenson Ranch Plaza at 24909 Pico Canyon Road. Helmed by franchise owner Ken Park, the outpost will join a slew of big brands including Del Taco, Stein Mart, and LA Fitness. The incoming Bonchon comes on the heels of a 2022 three-store franchise agreement intended to expand the brand’s LA footprint.

“The SoCal community and Bonchon go together seamlessly,” explained Greg Buchanan, chief administrative officer at Bonchon, amid the agreement announcement. “Not only is our food loved by residents throughout the L.A. area already, but also the diverse cultures in the city make this a perfect fit.”

The Busan-born chain serves Korean comfort food — specifically fried chicken — that is prepared with both care and culture. The chicken, for which Bonchon has had lines so long they were regulated by the police, is hand-battered, double-fried, and hand-brushed. Additionally, Bonchon offers starters like potstickers and bulgogi fries, main dishes including chicken katsu, sides, and desserts.

An interview with franchise owner Ken Park is forthcoming.
