A brand new restaurant called Akira Sushi is opening in Studio City, located at 11830 W. Ventura Blvd.

The 1,092 square-foot restaurant expects to open around February 2022, according to owner Min Zhi Yan. She tells What Now Los Angeles the restaurant is still going through the city application process, but hopes to open the restaurant sometime in the first half of the year. The new sushi restaurant will replace Susan Manders Art Experience and sit next to Mister O’s. The restaurant will be open from 11:30 am to 10 pm daily. The restaurant moves into an area with a plethora of Japanese restaurants.

The restaurant will offer the usual items found at a sushi restaurant, such as hand rolls, specialty rolls, and possibly nigiri, sashimi, and Omasake. The restaurant was approved for a liquor license, so customers can expect to find sake, Sapporo, and Japanese whisky. Alcohol will only be served with a meal. Like most restaurants in the area, desserts will likely be served at this restaurant as well.

When the restaurant does open, they will have some stiff competition nearby. SushiStop sits across from the new restaurant, while other Japanese restaurants, such as Asanebo, KIWAMI, and Teru Sushi, are right down the road.
