Pret A Manger, a British eatery with over 550 stores globally, has plans to debut at least 40 locations across Southern California.
In partnership with franchisee Dallas Holdings, Pret will soon come to Los Angeles, OC, and San Diego.
As initially reported by Eater, “the first SoCal cafe should open by Summer 2023.”
Dallas Holdings is a bi-national entity set up to acquire and open new businesses in the coffee & QSR space. Currently, they operate a collection of Pret’s UK locations and will soon build upon Pret’s 44 existing NY locations with a Hudson Yards store.
“We are extremely excited about bringing the Pret brand to the Southern California market, whilst also adding to Pret’s own strong New York network,” says Shane Thakrar, President & CEO of Dallas Holdings.
“We feel California is a great new market for Pret, with many strong initial locations across Los Angeles and Orange County planned for our launch. We look forward to growing our partnership with Pret, and of course, welcoming our new teams and customer into our shops.”
Pret A Manger — which is French for “ready to eat” — was opened in London in 1986. Since then, the company has become known for its freshly made takeaway food and organic coffee. What’s more, Pret emphasizes sustainability in its business model, making its food in-house and donating unsold fare to food rescue partners at the end of every day.
