Catch Steak, the high-end steakhouse known for serving Wagyu and dry-aged steaks, is finally moving forward with its new concept restaurant in Los Angeles.
What Now LA previously reported that Catch Hospitality Group is opening its new 20,000 square-foot Catch Steak at the former home of Fig & Olive in the Fall of 2021. The financial implications of the COVID-19 pandemic caused the group to delay plans. Now, the group has recently resubmitted documents to the Los Angeles City Planning Department at the address of 650 N. La Cienega Blvd., next to the originally reported address at 8490 Melrose Pl.
The new Catch Steak will move just down the street from the group’s first Los Angeles restaurant, Catch LA. New documents submitted to the Los Angeles Planning Department have a 7,117 square-foot first floor with 163 seats inside an existing 2,405 square-foot space, along with two outdoor patios, one existing and one proposed, with a total of 219 seats. The second-floor dining area will have an additional 38 seats in a 1,080 square-foot space.
Owners Eugene Remm, Tilman Fertitta, and Mark Birnbaum currently own and operate six Catch concepts throughout the country, including in Vegas, NYC, and most recently, Aspen. The new Catch Steak LA is expected to open in June 2022, according to a recent Instagram post from the company. When the restaurant opens, guests can expect delicious meals perfect for a special occasion, such as lean and full-bodied cuts of rib-eye, a filet with house-made truffle butter, BBQ-glazed Alaskan king crab, and ounce steaks prepared on Japanese stone tabletops.
“Aspen and Melrose Place will offer Catch’s world-renowned dishes with unparalleled scenic views,” Fertitta said in a press release when the news first broke. “This concept has been a huge success, and we look forward to adding these destinations to our portfolio.”
