Caviar Kaspia, the Paris-based restaurant that has contributed to the rise of the “Art of Caviar,” is looking to make its California debut in Melrose, located at 8475 Melrose Pl.
The new French restaurant will move into the former home of Mansur Gavriel, a now-closed luxury handbag and shoe brand. Caviar Kaspia, which regularly welcomes the greatest stars of the time, is also recognized worldwide as the “French fashion canteen,” particularly in times of “fashion week.” The new restaurant, set to launch sometime in early September 2022, will be mainly outside, with a focus on caviar and seafood paired with a very extensive selection of wines and drinks.
Caviar Kaspia, founded in 1927, remains today a family company, and has kept its soul to perpetuate the “Culture of Caviar.” The house continues to offer the best seafood from all over the world and remains faithful to its philosophy: Tradition of excellence in the selection of its products and in the service to its customers. Customers can expect a variety of Kaspia products, such as caviar, smoked salmon, lobster medallion, Kamchatka crab, foie gras, and Iberian ham.
The caviar-focused restaurant came from Arcady Foxy, a young immigrant who ended up in France. Quite naturally, he then came up with the idea of inaugurating a warm and authentic place, where the bitterness of painful moments would give way to the most popular flavors of the past, the delicacy of caviar, which appeared at the court of the tsars in the 17th century. In 1927, the Caviar Kaspia house was born. The one-of-a-kind restaurant also has locations in Saint-Tropez, Dubai, and Sao Paulo, with another location planned for London.
