With seven locations across San Diego county, the beloved neighborhood taqueria City Tacos will launch its first Los Angeles outpost at the Shops at USC Village, replacing what had formerly been Trejo’s Tacos.

Pepe the Pug, City Tacos’ mascot, has been bringing joy to locals in the San Diego area since 2014. The taqueria specializes in traditional taco recipes with a contemporary flair.

Guests may choose between arrachera, chicken, chorizo, shrimp or fish as well as vegetarian, vegan, and paleo options. Highlights on the menu include the house favorite Mexicali Taco (mashed potatoes, poblano peppers and onions, grilled Arrachera steak, and cotija cheese) and the Pollo City (grilled chicken breast topped with arugula, diced tomato, golden raisins, and toasted almonds). Guests can complement their meals with refreshing Mexican beers, Mexican sodas or aguas frescas.

“I am extremely excited about the opportunity to continue expansion of City Tacos into such an amazing city,” explains owner Gerry Torres. “City Tacos is looking forward to its new chapter and we are thrilled to be bringing our one-of-a-kind tacos and dining experience to Los Angeles and the USC campus.”

City Tacos will settle into suite 1735 in USC Village at 835 W Jefferson Boulevard. The USC Village location will boast a vibrant décor reminiscent of its San Diego shops, which are decked out with themed murals, neon signs with fun phrases such as “Make Salsa, Not War”, and portraits of Pepe the Pug.

City Tacos at the Shops at USC Village is set to debut on Monday, August 2nd. The taqueria will be open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. To celebrate their debut, City Tacos will offer one free taco per customer on opening day.
