A brand new Latin American restaurant called Club 23 Bar & Grill is making its debut in Covina, located at 20502 EE. Arrow Hwy. Unit E.
The new restaurant will move into the former home of Mauricios Mexican Food & Pizza, within the Sunrise Plaza. Owner Efren Saenz tells What Now Los Angeles he hopes to open sometime around August 2022. He says the licensing process is causing delays, but he expects the restaurant will be open by the end of the year. Saenz believes this will be an incredible opportunity for his new business, considering there are very few Latin American restaurants in the area.
Club 23 Bar & Grill is named in honor of the 23 different Spanish-speaking countries that are represented on the menu. Efren, who is opening this new restaurant with his daughter, says all of the food will be inspired by Latin America, Spain, and Portugal. One example of the kind of food here that isn’t typically found in Mexican restaurants is the Cuban frita burger. On top of the various Latin American dishes, the owners will specialize in wine, pairing each with items from the menu.
Efren has high expectations for this new restaurant, which he says is going to be a cultural escape that goes beyond the food and wine. He tells What Now Los Angeles that every aspect of the restaurant, from the ambiance to the music, will represent Latin America and Spanish culture. He wants guests to feel like they’re walking away from Los Angeles when they walk into the restaurant.
