Kura Revolving Sushi Bar is heading to Sherman Oaks.

The conveyor belt sushi franchise is opening inside the Westfield Fashion Square mall at 14006 Riverside Dr.

It will be housed in a corner unit at the mall’s main entrance, replacing Barney’s Gourmet Hamburgers, and near 85C Bakery Cafe.

Construction on the new Kura Revolving Sushi is underway and an opening is expected before the end of the year, sources familiar with the project told What Now Los Angeles over the telephone Monday.

An estimated $800,000 will be spent building out the new Japanese eatery, according to plans filed with the City of Los Angeles, including a new outdoor dining area.

Parent company Kura Corporation opened its first restaurant in 1977 and has grown to over 400 locations across Japan, Taiwan, and the United States.

Locally in California, Kura operates 15 locations, two of which are in Los Angeles.
