Culver City Tex-Mex Eatery Amacita Closing Down For Now

Chef/Owner Josef Centeno is suspending service 'for the foreseeable future' after earlier this month announcing sister eatery Bäco Mercat had permanently shuttered.

On the heels of permanently closing Bäco Mercat in early August, Chef/Owner Josef Centeno is ceasing operations at sister eatery Amacita “for the foreseeable future” starting tonight, according to an announcement from the restaurant late-Thursday.

“Hi, y’all, we just wanted to let you know that on Friday we will be suspending takeout and patio dining for the foreseeable future,” Amacita posted to its Instagram. “We’re figuring out ways to adapt while the months ahead are still uncertain. We’ll miss all of you, our Culver City neighbors, but it isn’t goodbye…”

Amacita had only been in business a little over a year, first debuting in July 2019. The Culver City space, at 9552 Washington Blvd, was previously home to a Bäco spinoff, called BacoShop from Centeno, who, in the meantime is keeping Bar Amá open in DTLA.
