Dan Modern Chinese has filed a liquor license application for its upcoming Playa Vista restaurant, revealing the exact location, something Owner James Kim earlier this year held close to his chest. It will be part of the Runway Playa Vista development, according to the filing this week. Kim first opened up the soup dumpling eatery with an outpost in Pasadena and operates a location in Sawtelle, at 2049 Sawtelle Boulevard.

What Now Los Angeles (WNLA) previously spoke with Kim, confirming that Dan Modern Chinese is expanding to several different locations across the L.A. area: at 1403 2nd Street in Santa Monica, taking over the old space that Ippudo Ramen once occupied, Manhattan Village at 3200 N. Sepulveda Boulevard, and this one in Playa Vista. There’s even a potential location opening up in the San Fernando Valley, seemingly in 2021.

The incoming Playa Vista location, at 12775 W Millennium DR, 4-110, sits among the shopping district, surrounded by different restaurants and storefronts including the recently-opened Bull & Butterfly, with several more inbound including Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams.

WNLA reached out to Kim for comment, who has not yet said anything. As for the timeline of the move-in date, nothing is known for sure. WNLA will update as more info comes in.
