Fat Tuesday is nearing its opening in Sherman Oaks.

The New Orleans-style restaurant is set to debut in place of Asakuma Rice, at 14543 Ventura Blvd, sometime mid-December, Partner Keith Adams in an email Sunday told What Now Los Angeles.

Asakuma Rice closed its doors early-2019.

Lousiana native and Fat Tuesday Owner Eric Laneuville is currently seeking a Conditional Use Beverage (CUB) permit to sell alcohol at the restaurant.

Patrons can expect “down-home Creole cooking” with specialties like char-grilled oysters and “the best shrimp PoBoys in the Metroplex.”

The restaurant gets its name from “Fat Tuesday,” the English translation of the French Carnival celebration Mardi Gras.
