Gabacho is heading to a 2,500-square-foot space at 221 N. Glendora Ave. in Glendora. It is aiming to fully open by the end of February, owners Daniel Van Nostrand and Auner David Tobar told What Now Los Angeles.

The team had been searching for a space for Tobar to execute a Latin-French fusion concept, drawing on Tobar’s experience with cooking and running restaurants around Los Angeles, including Nina’s Cafe Bar in Bell.

“We finally got a space here in Glendora where we feel we can follow David’s vision exactly,” Van Nostrand said.

The menu will feature Guatemalan and Central American food mixed with French influence, focusing on brunch and dinner. Dinner items will include risottos, pastas and steaks. Signature brunch items will include sweet and savory crepes, as well as Tobar’s beloved dessert French toast — a fruity, sweet dessert made with Guatemalan-style bread.

“We’re hoping to be an every-weekend brunch spot for people,” Van Nostrand said. “David has a lot of variety in terms of crepes and light, delicious brunch food.”

The design of the space will include a bar-cafe at the entrance, a 1,600-square-foot dining room and an outdoor patio with a 30-40 seating capacity. Expect an upscale yet relaxing atmosphere.

Permitting is ongoing, but once Gabacho opens, it will likely operate from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

“Beyond being a comfy, upscale eatery, we are looking to support organizations within the community, like education and youth activities,” Van Nostrand said. “We do want to dig into the community here since Glendora has a small-town feel. We’re looking to become part of that.”
