Burger Lounge – a San Diego-based fast-casual chain focused on grass-fed burgers – appears to be working on a new Manhattan Beach location, according to a recent liquor license application. The storefront will be located at the site of the former Rubio’s Fresh Mexican Grill on 2000 N Sepulveda Blvd.

In addition to its organic burgers, the Lounge’s menu includes a variety of items like chicken tenders, grilled and fried chicken sandwiches, turkey burgers, cod sandwiches, plant-based chicken bites and burgers, salads, fries, onion rings, shakes, floats, beer and wine. The restaurants also offer catering.

“We take common recipes to new heights by crafting them with familiar ingredients sourced specifically for taste. The best part is, these ingredients are often better for you, and the environment too. Burgers with grass-fed beef and free-range turkey, salads featuring organic spinach and mizuna, a cod sandwich that’s sustainably-sourced…the list goes on and on,” says their website.

Burger Lounge was founded in 2007 by J. Dean Loring and Michael Gilligan in La Jolla. Today, the brand has 24 open stores throughout California, with eight throughout the L.A. area.

An opening date for the Manhattan Beach storefront has not yet been announced.
