The historic building at 8980 Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood has just been leased to world renowned art dealer Hauser & Wirth. The iconic space had formerly housed an impressive collection of vintage cars from the Heritage Classics Motorcar Company.

Hauser & Wirth will occupy the entire 10,800 square-foot building, with 7,500 square feet dedicated to a world-class gallery showroom space and the remainder of which will be a restaurant and cafe featuring Parisian-style sidewalk dining.

Since its 1992 conception in Zurich, Switzerland, Hauser & Wirth has expanded across the globe with outposts in Hong Kong, London, New York, Los Angeles, Somerset, Gstaad, St. Moritz, Southampton (NY), Menorca, and Monaco. According to its official website, Hauser & Wirth represents over 80 artists and estates and is “widely admired for a sympathetic approach to restoring historic buildings and giving them a new lease of life as contemporary art spaces that invigorate surrounding communities.” In the Downtown Los Angeles Arts District, Hauser & Wirth reanimated a former flour mill to create a vibrant communal space that celebrates local art and architecture.

This new project will similarly take on the gallery’s mission to engage the city’s diverse population and foster public dialogue with the arts. Angelenos have much to look forward to with Hauser & Wirth’s new gallery space in West Hollywood.
