HomeState, a local “Texas Kitchen” chain known for its casual counter service and comfort food, is opening a new location at 720 Wilshire Boulevard in Santa Monica.
A banner announcing the opening is already up at the former home of Fresh Corn Grill, according to ToddRickAllen. The restaurant, which offers counter service in a laid-back atmosphere, serves a menu rooted in traditional Texas comfort food. Customers can expect tacos, queso, breakfast plates, and margaritas served throughout the day. An exact opening date for this location is yet to be determined.
HomeState was founded in Los Angeles and currently operates eight locations across Southern California. The restaurants are known for a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, often featuring communal seating, patio space, and a steady flow of regulars.
Menu highlights include tacos filled with scrambled eggs, bacon, brisket, or chorizo; house-made flour tortillas; and Frito pie served directly in the bag. Guests can also expect rotating seasonal specials and a variety of drinks, including micheladas and margaritas. HomeState also offers catering and family-style meal kits.
The new Santa Monica location will occupy a 3,050-square-foot space featuring a newly built kitchen, modern fixtures, and a large outdoor patio. It’s situated in a recently renovated building with ample parking and signage facing both Lincoln and Wilshire boulevards.
This will be an excellent location for a new HomeState. The site is just minutes from the Santa Monica 3rd Street Promenade and is surrounded by established restaurants, retail, and hotels, including the adjacent Santa Monica Proper Hotel. With convenient parking options and recent improvements to both its interior and exterior, the space is well-positioned to attract both locals and visitors seeking casual, high-quality dining.
