The beloved Japanese restaurant Hurry Curry of Tokyo is relocating to Santa Monica, located at 2901 Ocean Park Blvd Ste. 125.

The new location, the only one in California, will replace Ocean Park Ramen House, according to Toddrickallen. Chief Operating Officer Frederick Serra tells What Now Los Angeles he expects the restaurant to open in March 2022. This is great news for fans of the restaurant, who original location in Sawtelle Japantown closed down last year after 33 years. Hurry Curry of Tokyo also has two locations in Seattle, one in South Lake Union and Bellevue. Serra says all three restaurants will follow the same menu created by Tokyo-born chefs.

Hurry Curry of Tokyo takes pride in its signature curry base created by a Japanese specialty food distributor in Japan. The restaurant offers fried chicken karaage, custom dressings, Tokyo curry, and a signature chicken pasta dish. As for comfort food, customers can expect to find dishes inspired by western cuisine, including katsu and tonkatsu, spaghetti naporitan, and korokke. By adding capsaicin oil custom-made from hot peppers imported from Japan,  their dishes can reach up to four levels of spiciness.

“After spending time researching Japanese curry houses in Tokyo in the 1980s, our goal was to bring the wonderful flavors and value of these popular restaurants to Los Angeles,” according to their website. “Working with Japanese chefs from Tokyo, we developed our own original blend of 21 spices for our signature curry sauce.”
