After opening its record number of stores in 2024, Insomnia Cookies is getting ready to open a new location in University City at 100 Universal City Plaza.
The new location is set to open within Universal CityWalk Hollywood later this year, according to signage on the building that WhatsNewSFV first reported. It’s unclear when Insomnia Cookies is expected to open, but it’s the newest tenant announced for the shopping center adjacent to Universal Studios Hollywood, with Slice House by Tony Gemignani also being recently announced for the area. This will become the only cookie option in the area and comes after the company celebrated a massive 2024.
The bakery brand, best known for delivering delicious, warm cookies late into the night, reached a significant company milestone last year with its 300th bakery worldwide opening. In 2024, Insomnia Cookies was projected to open 55 new locations, surpassing the brand’s highest total new store openings in a year. Last year, Insomnia Cookies also debuted its global headquarters – the “Imagine What’s Possible Center” (IWP) and Flagship Bakery. With momentum on the company’s side, Insomnia Cookies hopes to open even more locations worldwide this year.
“Our first store opened in 2003, and as we celebrate our 21st birthday [last] October, I’m so grateful to our community of Insomniacs that has grown beyond my wildest dreams,” Seth Berkowitz, CEO and Founder of Insomnia Cookies said last year in a press release. “Since day one, our spirit of creativity and imagination has driven us to continue innovating and pushing the boundaries of cookie creations to feed the insatiable hunger of our customers. This tremendous level of growth in such a short time wouldn’t be possible without our loyal Insomniacs and employees, and we look forward to reaching future milestones that allow us to create even more connections over warm cookies.”
