Paris Tokyo by AZAI Sushi, a glamorous sushi joint that shuttered its doors in Golden Triangle a few months back, may be relocating to 8289 Santa Monica Blvd. at the site of the Arden Restaurant and Cafe, according to a recent liquor license application. Paris Tokyo and Arden are both under the same ownership, so it’s possible that the two concepts will be sharing the space.

Notably, Arden’s website highlights, “One Address, Three Experiences.” In addition to the already open Arden Restaurant & Bar and Arden Cafe — both housed at 8289 Santa Monica — another spot called The Speakeasy is listed as “coming soon.” Could The Speakeasy actually be the site of the new Paris Tokyo location?

Paris Tokyo’s upscale restaurant in Beverly Hills was extravagantly decorated with cherry blossoms, sleek furniture and moody lighting, and also featured nightly DJ sets. Its vibey atmosphere would certainly mesh well with Arden’s pastoral garden aesthetic.

For now, the fate of Paris Tokyo and 8289 Santa Monica is still uncertain. The Paris Tokyo team could not be immediately reached for comment.
