Izakaya Toki Taking Over Former Shibumi Space in Downtown

Izakaya Toki will come from Casper Hospitality Group.

A local hospitality group is preparing to bring a new concept into the downtown location formerly home to Michelin-starred Japanese restaurant Shibumi, which shuttered in July. A new concept called Izakaya Toki is heading to the space at 815 S. Hill St., according to an ABC filing this month.

Casper Hospitality Group, helmed by brothers Len and Anthony Hayashi, are behind Izakaya Toki. What Now Los Angeles briefly connected with Len, who confirmed a new concept was in the works but was not immediately available for comment. What Now Los Angeles is seeking additional menu, design and opening details at this time.

Casper Hospitality Group also operates Mo-Mo-Paradise locations throughout the Los Angeles area. Mo-Mo-Paradise offers traditional Japanese hot pot experiences with shabu-shabu, sukiyaki and vegetables. The website lists four locations: Rowland Heights, Irvine, Torrance and Arcadia.

The Hayashis also operate Guzzu Bento-Ya in downtown L.A. The Japanese bento box concept offers bento boxes featuring California ingredients.
