José Andrés and his D.C.-based ThinkFoodGroup are opening two new restaurants: San Laurel and Agua Viva , coming to The Grand LA, located at 100 S. Grand Ave.

News of Andrés’ return to Los Angeles came early last month when he announced Bazaar Meat, a stand-alone high-end steakhouse on the sixth floor of The Grand LA, along with two other restaurants. Not much other information was provided regarding the second and third restaurants until now. The first is San Laurel, featuring “the flavors of Spain as seen through a California lens.” The other restaurant, Agua Viva, will be a chic rooftop restaurant with beach club vibes. Both restaurants are expected to open in late Spring 2022.

San Laurel, located off the 10th-floor arrival lobby, aims to highlight the ingredients of California through breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Andrés will use local resources such as Santa Monica Farmers’ Market to create modern Spanish cuisine. Menu highlights include veal Osso Bucco for two, finished tableside, grilled romaine with parmesan espuma, and crab croquetas. There will be a dedicated lobby bar next to San Laurel, designed to celebrate the spirit of the desert and the Pacific Ocean. A few inspired spirits and flavors from the region include agave, sours, spicy, and tropical.

Also on the 10th-floor, situated on the outdoor amenity deck of the new Conrad Los Angeles, Agua Viva will offer stunning views of Los Angeles. Customers can expect a variety of Latin and Asian flavors on the menu. Shared plates and refreshing cocktails can be enjoyed in an open-air dining room or poolside with sweeping views of the city. Menu highlights include Young Coconut Ceviche, Ribeye Burger, Abalone & Shiitake, and Piña Borracha.

The incoming Condrad Los Angeles is expected to open within the Grand LA, across from the Disney Concert Hall, in late Spring 2022. The legendary Frank Gehry designs the 305-room hotel with interiors by Tara Bernerd. Conrad Los Angeles is accepting reservations for stays beginning on June 1, 2022, and foodies can expect restaurant reservations to open around the same time.
