Authentic Mexican cuisine restaurant Kalaveras is expanding into a new location in Long Beach, along with new locations coming to Orange County and San Bernardino County.
Owner Jose Brito tells What Now Los Angeles his business partner will be opening the new location near the Long Beach Convention Center in more than a month, likely late Spring or Summer 2022. He and Francisco Brito already own and operate several sites throughout Southern California, including locations in Silver Lake, Pasadena, West Los Angeles, San Pedro, Bellflower, Whittier, and more. Now the duo of owners is getting ready to open more locations in Montclair, Orange, and Newport Beach.
When these locations open, guests can expect vibrant colors, art, music, and culture, honoring Dia de Los Muertos. Their menu reflects a deep passion for traditional Mexican and Latin American cuisine with recipes passed down from generations. Some of their signature dishes include barbacoa and carnitas plates, a unique twist on enchiladas verdes, tacos gobernador, and an exclusive molcajete. As for cocktails, guests can expect a mixture of urban mixology complemented by fresh ingredients, including herbs, infusions, and homemade syrups.
“We’re creating a new concept of modern rustic dining with a fusion of traditional and vanguard Mexican ingredients,” according to Brito. “Our food is chef-driven, using classic cooking techniques with fresher and healthier options. We’re elevating bold, authentic flavors and presenting a new way of eating. In the bar, you’ll find over 90 different tequilas and Mezcal spirits.”
