Space that was supposed to open as restaurant and lounge Hourglass in 2017, at 4001 W. 6th Street, looks like it will soon have an occupant.

Daedo, a “beef house” with three locations in Korea, is currently making its way through permitting with the City of Los Angeles to open on the corner lot, firstly seeking a Conditional Use Beverage (CUB) exemption for the sale and consumption of beer and wine on-site.

Alex Woo, a consultant working with Daedo Owner Yong Hwan Lee on the CUB filing, confirmed the plans but would not disclose any project specifics when reached Friday by What Now Los Angeles (WNLA) over the phone.

Lee also did not immediately respond to a request for comment by WNLA.

While details are scarce, the 6,200-square-foot restaurant would have seating for 211 and be open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., operating under parent company Kitchen Borie USA Inc.

“This is a restaurant which has been specializing in sirloin for 50 years,” according to a splash page for the restaurant in Korea.

“Just like how steak made by famous star chefs is cooked through the pan fry method, cast iron pan was used to cook carefully selected sirloin. Therefore, it is the number one sirloin specialized restaurant where the abundant beef stock can be tasted in the sirloin.”

The Hourglass space, home to Story Karaoke Bar before that, was demolished in April 2019.
